You will love him for it

Dear Me,
It gets better. It gets so much better. High school is not the end of the world. It is simply the shitty beginning. Those kids who make you feel like you aren’t worth the air you breathe will learn someday that just because you’re the top dog in a dead-end town’s only high school doesn’t mean you get to keep treating people like crap. You’re going to get out of there. You’re going to move to Chicago and meet some of the most wonderful people in the world. You’ll have experiences you’ll never forget. You’ll have good times and bad. But most of all, you’ll meet the most amazing man in the entire world and all of those years of crying because boys wouldn’t even look at you will be worth it. You’ll be so thankful that Aaron and Eric never gave you the time of day. You’ll be over the moon that the first man to ever know you and love is this one. Matthew is a Westley in a world full of Humperdinks (which, by the way, party foul on not seeing Princess Bride til you’re 19). He will love you despite and even because you’re a crazy woman. He’ll build you forts and play Mario with you until the stars fade from the sky. He’ll marry you (even if you’re too impatient to wait for a proposal) and give you beautiful babies and grow old with you. He’ll deal with your mood swings and knock your ass back to earth when you get out of control. And you will love him for it. By the way, it may take a few years but that crazy idea you have of touring the world with bands wasn’t very conducive to a family environment, so I went ahead and became a preschool teacher instead. You’ll get over it eventually. Also, those assholes from high school? They *wish* they were as cool as you are now. Not everyone gets as lucky as us, girl.
