There is some limited evidence that Regional Integration and Poverty: How to Assess the Links? 27 trade and investment induced by regions boost productivity (for instance, regional exporters pay higher wages than domestic ﬁrms in Tanzania) and product variety and availability (for instance, in times of country-speciﬁc droughts).
